Rylan has been working as a cinematographer on documentaries, TV series, music videos, and branded, corporate, and commercial videos since 2010. He has traveled to over 25 countries working as a video journalist and director of photography for the Emmy Award-winning “VICE” shows. His work has featured heavily on HBO, Showtime, and Hulu, and has been broadcast on NBC, A&E, BBC, ABC, Comedy Central, History Channel, Viceland, and Netflix, among other networks.  In addition to camera and DP work, he has experience working as a producer, field producer, and editor on various TV series, commercial campaigns and corporate content, as well as documentary projects.

He has also worked in development as well as pre-production, often turning ideas and goals into actionable plans that inform production teams and guide the ship towards a cohesive feel that aligns with the core objectives of a brand or client, showrunner, agency, and often many stakeholders, while facilitating the creation of high-quality work that is on-brand, on budget and on schedule.

After moving back to Seattle from Brooklyn a few years ago, he has launched a production company, FAST FRIENDS MEDIA, LLC. The company’s approach is centered around creating compelling, high-quality content that puts story and people front and center, as a means to fostering deeper connection with their audience. Whether crafting a vèritè documentary, a purpose-built narrative to drive customer engagement, a campaign to wow audiences with gorgeous content for their socials, or finding and channeling a cinematic quality in the seemingly ordinary, Fast Friends can help elevate your next project from start to finish.
